A Snapshot of Social Housing - Energy Efficiency and Fabric
Our 2022 study A Snapshot of Social Housing – Energy Efficiency and Fabric, provides an insight into the causes of some of our clients’ problems relating to the energy efficiency and fabric of their social housing.
Many clients suffered significant delays before repairs to their home and heating systems were carried out, with expensive, inefficient heating systems contributing to fuel poverty and unhealthy homes.
Energy Performance Certificates were found to be a very poor indicator of a home’s actual energy efficiency and there were indications that social landlords could be withholding energy efficiency measures for clients in rent arrears. To help tackle these problems, the report has six recommendations to social housing providers and government.
