Volunteers’ Week runs from 1-7 June and Citizens Advice in East Dorset and Purbeck want to thank their amazing team of volunteers who have continued to give advice during this challenging year.
Although circumstances prevented face-to-face appointments the team of 50 + volunteers quickly adapted to new working practices with most clients advised and helped by telephone or email.
Helen Goldsack, Chief Officer, Citizens Advice in East Dorset and Purbeck said:
“Throughout the year our wonderful volunteers have made a huge difference to people’s lives. I cannot thank them enough for their continued dedication, especially when most have been working from their own homes.”
Helen continues: “Over 50 volunteers at Citizens Advice in East Dorset and Purbeck have helped 5,000 people with over 19,000 problems, such as debt, housing, benefit and employment issues. We have also expanded our expertise to address particular issues arising from the pandemic and associated lockdowns including increased lay-offs, furlough and the Income Support Scheme.”
Judy Herring, Service Manager at Citizens Advice in East Dorset and Purbeck, said: “Volunteers’ Week enables us to celebrate the huge amount of time and energy given by our volunteers over the past year. They are highly valued team members and we couldn’t help so many people across Purbeck and East Dorset without them. This is evident in our client comments which can be found on our website.”
Citizens Advice is currently looking to recruit more volunteers to join their friendly team. If you’re interested in finding out more about the volunteering opportunities, visit www.edpcitizensadvice.org.uk/volunteer.
