Energy advisers from Citizens Advice will be offering free energy advice at events across Dorset as part of Fuel Poverty Awareness Day.
The events will take place on Wednesday 27th November in Bridport, Christchurch and Poole, where advisers will be helping people who may be struggling with energy costs; offer energy saving advice and assistance with where to access further support and advice. There will also be free giveaways to help keep households warm.
Ros Dignan, Project Supervisor, Dorset Energy Unit, said: “Many people are worrying about managing their finances this winter and how they will afford their energy bills. There is help available. If you have a simple question about your supplier or you need more detailed advice, come and have a chat, we really can help. We also have free giveaways, which we hope will help people keep warm this winter.”
Advisers will be in Bridport at Bucky Doo Square, 10am-1pm with the new Dorset Energy Advice Bus and colleagues from Bridport & District Citizens Advice.
In Christchurch, advisers will be at the Somerford Arc, 20 Southey Road, Christchurch, BH23 3EH, 10am-12.30pm and in Poole, advisers will be in Delfino Lounge, Falklands Square, 10am-1pm.
Ridgewater Energy will also be on hand to give advice. They prioritise assistance through home visits and funding to people on low incomes and in poor health to help them afford to adequately heat their homes and make them a more cost-effective place to live.
In addition to the Fuel Poverty Awareness Day events, the Citizens Advice Dorset Energy Bus stops weekly in Blandford, Shaftesbury, Portland and Weymouth, where advisers are on hand to give free energy advice. Free winter warmer giveaways will be available at these locations between the 20th-29th November.
On Friday 29th November, for the first time, the Dorset Energy Bus will also be at Swanage market with the general Citizens Advice Bus, where free giveaways will be available.
