Citizens Advice in East Dorset & Purbeck held an event in Wimborne to launch their new Advice Bus which will provide vulnerable residents with access to free advice and support.
The event at Allendale House, Wimborne, was attended by stakeholders, local Councillors, funders and businesses who were invited to hear about the service and challenges faced when reaching residents who are unable to access existing services. They were also invited for a look around the bus.
Helen Goldsack, Chief Officer, Citizens Advice in East Dorset & Purbeck said: “We are very pleased to be able to provide a much-needed service to the local community. The bus enables us to reach residents who cannot access services due to rural isolation, restricted mobility, cost of fuel or limited access to public transport. Advice is free and there is no need to book an appointment.”
Helen continues: “We are an independent charity and are reliant upon grants and donations to continue to provide our existing level of service. We would love to hear from individuals and organisations who may be interested in supporting our Advice Bus. Please email [email protected] for more information.”
Attendees to the event, included The Mayor of Wimborne Minster, Cllr Diann March, local Councillors representing Wareham, Verwood, Ferndown and Wimborne, together with funders including Wessex Water and local businesses including MJP Law, Dibbens Solicitors and Harold G Walker Solicitors. Representatives also attended from other supporting organisations including Dorset Council, Wimborne & Ferndown Lions, Purbeck Youth & Community Foundation, Dorset National Trust, Wimborne Food Supply and MCraft Camper Creations who converted the bus.
The Advice Bus will be stopping weekly at Colehill, Verwood, West Moors, Corfe Mullen, Wool, Bovington and Swanage. For the full timetable visit www.edpcitizensadvice.org.uk/get-advice/advice-bus
